Valid” is a deeply personal piece—a self-portrait I created in 2022 as part of my Within series. It serves as a visual affirmation of the validity of our feelings and experiences, reminding us that they are real, significant, and worthy of acknowledgment.

The honeycomb patterns represent the structure and interconnectedness of life, while the bee symbolizes resilience and the importance of nurturing ourselves and our communities. The peony blooms with strength and softness, embodying the beauty of embracing our full selves—both the tender and the bold.

When I painted this, I wanted to capture the quiet yet powerful message that your emotions and experiences are valid, no matter how big or small they may seem. It’s a reflection of self-acceptance and the courage to honour your inner truth.
