The sassiness of this clip from the show is everything to me. Sabrina's world felt like home to me. Maximalist fashion, cheesy one-liners and heart-centered navigation. It looked bloody and dark and I truly wasn't sure if I could handle it or not. Turns out, it isn't that bad, and isn't any more or less creepy than Riverdale. It took me a few episodes to get used to the coldest of Zelda and the passivity of Hilda but what I loved loved loved about it was the use of modern day magic!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI delighted in seeing Sabrina 2.0 using a cord cutting spell to cut ties with an ex, using salt for protection and washing away a curse in the shower. There are bits and pieces of modern day witches scattered throughout this retelling of the original comic book.I loved how the plot shifted away from devil worship towards honouring hekate and the maiden, mother and crone. The whole show was a dark magical take that was utterly blasphemous and as an agnostic witchy women, I ate it write up. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhat did you like better? I genuinely do not know how girl groups form, and the closest thing I had to that was frenemies in highschool...and I certainly had no interest in carrying any of that toxicity into my life after graduating. I long for a true coven of women, of communities that share gardens and secrets, that sexuality and self expression are not taboo and that the fertility, wisdom and intuition are uplifted and celebrated. I think that I grew up confusing the difference between longing, yearning, love and safety. I think as an adult I view them all as such a nuanced experiences that sometimes overlap but I see myself in Jilly. I loved how it ended with Sally saying that she hoped to never fall in love and Jilly saying that shouldn't couldn't wait. I think Sally understands how scary loving someone that deeply actually is, the danger of it, of being that vulnerable with someone, of investing youself into another.
